This piece took me even further into new territory by expanding processes I had only touched on before. Once I have accomplished a technique, I am anxious to explore where it will take me. The thought of winter sent me into a darker mood than I usually find myself and the addition of the swirl of color (suggesting wind, leaves or migrating geese) lifted the darkness and gave it energy and hope. It also suggests a resting time, waiting quietly and patiently for spring.
Freezer paper piecing on sewing machine, machine quilted. Includes artist's own hand dyed fabrics.
