Mistakes abounded in the creation of this piece, but I never quit. After seven years of doing, redoing, putting on hold and then trying again, it finally emerged as a touchstone in my journey. The foundation for this piece is a traditional 16 pointed star. But this is where all similarity ends. Two designs were drawn and then placed on top of each other creating an overlap, similar to the method used in "Warning: Some Colors May Run". The stars remain completely intact with the story floating over them. The inspiration for this quilt came from my childhood belief that there was more than one man-in-the-moon. Here the crescent Father Moon is teaching his children to sing and dance in the night so believers will hear and see what I did as a child.
Freezer paper piecing using sewing machine, hand appliqué, hand quilting.
