Upon reading the Emily Dickinson verse, "Where ships of purple gently toss on seas of daffodil," the concept of a daffodil sea demanded exploration. After sketching my vision on a large piece of paper, the flowers and ships were refined into units which were easy to piece together. The simple act of stepping outside the lines has never disappointed me.
