By learning to design and draft my own patterns, I was able to remove one more obstacle to the creative process. Although considered a traditional piece, this quilt is an example of my efforts to remove the limitations which make it difficult to execute my visions. "Diversity" has been referred to as the "Lieberman" quilt because it spent 1 ½ years in Senator Joseph Lieberman's Washington office. It was there that continuous exposure to sunlight caused many of the blues to fade.
