Judith Reilly and Chandler 4 Corners create a new line of accent and area rugs.
With the new year here, Chandler4Corners is adding to their repertoire with a new collection in collaboration with well-known fabric artist Judith Reilly. Chandler 4 Corners and Reilly have named the new line of hooked-wool rugs “The Woodstock Collection,” after the upscale, pastoral town in their home state of Vermont.
“We’re pushing the boundaries on what people expect from hooked wool,” said Henry Chandler, president of Chandler 4 Corners. “The rugs themselves are bold landscapes. You can see the way the colors and textures interact and really see Judith’s experience as a fabric artist shining through.”
Judith Reilly has won several awards for her fabric art, and her work has been on display in exhibitions as well as in museums, galleries, and government buildings. She has called upstate New York, Connecticut, and most recently Vermont her home, and brings her ‘life-taught’ style to classic New England themes of drawing inspiration from the outdoors.
“The Woodstock collection is representative, but not literally so. It’s a fanciful, catawampus interpretation of life here in New England,” said Judith Reilly. “The art is quirky and full of heart. The hand-hooked wool adds a sensation to them. You feel the rugs, and you know they’re going to stay with you forever. It adds a sense of
permanence to the whimsy of life.”
The Woodstock Collection will make it’s debut at the AmericasMart Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market this January, and will be featured in the Chandler 4 Corners 2015 catalog. Each of the designs will be featured on several sizes of rugs from small accent rugs to 6 ’x 9’ area rugs, and promise to be an exciting addition to the impressive Chandler lineup.
